Bicycle Fun Club Ride

I received the following response to an email I sent to Trailnet.

Greg,Thank you for your feedback. Our goal is to put on the best rides possible so that all have the best experience they can. We scouted this route out on Tuesday and two of our staff marked the route, as we normally do, on Thursday in order to have time to create the ride map. In our experience, we have never had a situation where the roads were graveled on Fridays or Saturdays, but in this case, Lower Marine was. We did not find out about the problem until well into the ride and no re-routing could have taken place. We are at the mercy of the various highway departments and their schedules. We are greatly concerned that this situation happened especially as we too are bike riders. We go through great pains when scouting and marking routes to avoid any dangerous conditions and when we have no choice, mark the roads and map appropriately. Our staff just returned from scouting the Peach Pedal route and it appears that the highway departments our doing substantial roadwork again limiting our route choices to roads with gravel. We will post this on information on our website. With regard to the Route 66 ride, you may notice we take breaks from certain rides to keep things fresh. That ride is indeed a nice one which we will try to bring back next year. The Watermelon Ride took place as the As the Crow Flies Ride held back on June 11.Again, we are quite upset that last weekend’s ride fell well below our high standards and apologize that we did not offer you a great ride. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.Steve~~~~~~~~~Steve SleetProgram ManagerTrailnet 3900 Reavis Barracks Rd.
