Rides July 7th and July 8th

Anyone up for a ride on July 7th? I'd love to get some good hill work in as that has been lacking in my training this year. Perhaps we can do the 10 hills of Dr. Dan route? I think that is about a 50-55 mile route or so starting and ending at Kaldis in the valley. We could get rolling around 8:00 so as not to be out too late when it is likely to be pretty warm. But I'm OK with some warm, so I don't want to not do the route just because it is summer. Don't we like summer?

July 8th I'd probably lean towards doing the Fun club ride. It's the Big Bottle ride over in Collinsville. That's the ride Ron and I met on 4 years ago. I have 3 extra $3 off coupons for the ride too. I might be at Maplewood again in the next couple of weeks, so if I get by there I'll try and pick-up more coupons. First ask (here), first serve.

How about the 80 miles of Hills and a couple of Kaldis Ride on July 7th. We havent done it yet this year. That should get some nice exhaustion of everyone legs.

Mike,

I would be happy to accept two of your fun club ride coupons. I can even stop by your house (tuesday or friday) at 1:15 and pick up the coupons.

Roark,

Why delay the "100 miles of hills" ride. I have never tried the ride as it never fell on my day. However, this Sunday the weather should be perfect to attempt the route and it just happens to be may day to ride!!!!

Brian,

I was cutting it back to 80 miles of hills, because we never actually have completed the whole darn thing. You guys really do need to post the ride coordination schedule. We could make it a link from the blogger. Ok, If folks are game I am game. This week, next week, both weeks. We only actually complete the 80 miles about every other time anyways.

Brian, Roark and all,

If you all want to do a big hill ride this weekend (June 30 or July 1) that's cool. But I'll still be looking for a hilly ride on the 7th.

So I'm up for the 80 miles of hills and 2 Kaldis ride that day. Hopefully it will still hit the calendar for that day as well. If it turns into 100 great. To be honest I plan to ride from my house either way, so I should be getting well over 100 regardless of the route.

Where do we meet for the 80 / 100 mile ride? 7:30, 8:00 or 8:30 would all be good for me, wherever we meet.

Mark Posted to the wrong thread,

I am up for any riding. I hope to get back on my bike this weekend. The Kaldi's rides are good. I think the reason we never finished the 100 is the ride was organized late in the season and we started kind of late. Let's meet at Kaldi's in the Valley by 7:00 and ride. Plus should be early enough to get it done.

Actually, very few of us actually ever made the whole 80 miles. Usually people dropped off like flies. The route map actually is keyed from my house so the train can pick up at Kaldis in Chesterfield Valley, but needs to start from my house. So lets plan to meet at Kaldis at 8:00 am. We can leave my house at 7:00 am. Sorry about the destination change, but all those turns I read are mileage keyed from my doorstep.

Roark (and all),

Are you still talking about the 7th? or are you talking about the coming weekend? or both?

I'm sure you all will get some riding in June 30 and July 1, but I'll be out of town. I would love to do the 80 / 100 mile ride on July 7. Starting at Roark's house at 7:00am would be perfect. Or just be at Kaldi's in the valley at 8:00 is still perfect. I might shoot for the latter, and still ride from my house, but be there in time for some coffee and oatmeal.

News from the homefront. Samantha is flying out from St. Louis to Detroit Sunday Morning July 1st at 9am for two weeks. Daddy duties mean I will be at the airport early Sunday. I can ride Sunday but it will be later, say 9:45 am to 10 am.

So if the group still wants to try the 80-100 miles of hills Sunday I can give the map and cuesheet to someone. You can also just make up your own route approximating my route.

I will see if I can get Maxine to drop me along the route at some point to join the group.
