Calhoun County Century Ride

Anybody up for the Calhoun County Century Ride in June before it gets too hot. I was thinking Saturday June 23.

Can I vote for Sunday June 24th?

I suggested Saturday, since Sunday is the Bicycle Fun Club Bridge Birthday Bash and Bicycle Ride.

I'd also like to vote for Sunday the 24th. Haven't been on the Calhoun ride yet and don't care about the bridge party if I could do this ride. Saturdays are hard for me to get available.

Well, I would vote for Sun, but Brian would probably vote for Sat. Sat is his day to ride and Sun is mine. Will watch for the final date and assume one of us will be there.
Thanks.

My vote would be for Saturday so I can do the Fun Club Ride Sunday.

I could live with Sunday too.

If we go with Sunday I'll still be looking for a Satuday ride, so which ever of the Lopatins is left out, we can work out a ride together, and others can join in too.

So in the case of a tie, does the blogger owner get to break the tie on Sunday or Saturday for Calhoun County?

I am good for either day. My preference is Sunday because I will be in California this week and get back Friday night.

If there are no further objections, lets set the Calhoun County Century for an 8 am start on Sunday.

Roark,

Where do we meet and is 8:00 AM riding time?

We meet in St. Peters at the commuter parking lot at the northwest corner of the intersection of highway 70 and Mid Rivers Mall Drive. It's across the street from QT and Burger King.
We will roll at 8:00 since it will be in the upper 90s on Sunday.

If no one objects I would like to be rolling at 7:30 am. I have to be at the Fox for the Lion King at 6:30 pm. This would just give me a bit more breating room, to lessen my anxiety if we get a flat or go slow due to heat.

OK - so it looks like Sunday, arrival around 7:00 to 7:15 and rolling by 7:30.

I'll be there,

Mike

Everyone needs to bring cash for the ferry ($5 round trip I believe), for lunch (I believe the restaurants do not take credit cards) and for water or snacks. The two restaurants we have stopped at before were inexpensive.

Hey gang,

I enjoyed the ride today very much. I really love that route and look forward to doing it again this year, perhaps in the fall. I enjoyed the pace of the riding and the almost natural way that route turns into interval work. Plus it was great for my training to push hard on two consecutive days.

Hope we didn't offend anyone with the four of us moving on after the first ferry. I was wanting to get to the Guitar Shop by 5:00 or 5:15 to buy a guitar (which I did, see below). They close at 6:00 on Sunday. Plus it had been a pretty long day and I (and perhaps others) was eager to finish up.

I might do some spinning this week, but I'm busy with work functions 3 out of four nights this week. Then Friday Lynda and I fly out of town for a three day weekend. Then it's holiday week, so I probably won't be riding in town until Thursday July 5, or that weekend, the 7th and 8th. As of this moment I'd be looking for a longish ride on the 7th, and then probably the Fun club ride on the 8th.

As for the guitar, this was my 40th birthday / graduation gift to myself / from Lynda. She knew I wanted one and jump started me with a nice gift card. I wound up with what I think is a pretty nice accustic with a built in tuner and jacks for plugging into an amp. It's a Takamine for those in the know. Right now I can't play a lick, but I'll work on it soon, but not too soon with being busy at work and the holidays.

Talk to you all soon,

Mike
