The Hillclimber Goes Down Hill!

It"s True: Mike is on the down hill descent of his biking career, turning 40 years old today! No longer the young stud of the group, he turns his attention to endurance rides, those normally reserved for the insane or retired!

Happy 40th Birthday Mike!

Mike,

Happy Birthday. At least 40 does not sound as young at 39.

Mike,

I am very excited to learn that you are no longer in my age group for triathlons. Congradulations on turning 40 and wishing you many more healthy and happy birthday's.

Maybe in another 40 years I will be able to keep up with you.

Thanks for all the well wishes (mostly).

I'm really 39 years and 12 months.

I may be going downhill, but I can still do so at 50+ mph.

375 miles at an average riding speed of around 18.5 ain't that slow. Maybe insane, but not slow.

Greg, you can always hope.

Brian, don't worry too much about my ability in triathalons. I think I'll try one someday, but presently I can't even run across the street.

I've officially qualified for Paris. I'm working on my application this week. I'm changing my training focus for the next month too. I think for the next couple of weeks I'm going to try and focus on shorter, faster rides. Then in Michigan I'm hoping to do as many centuries as I can stand. Some faster moments, and some steady moments. Somewhere in there I need to get some real hill work, which has been lacking this year. PBP is said to be rather hilly.

Then early August maybe back to some 120 - 180 mile rides at a steady pace. Then maybe ready? I sure hope so.

Talk to you all soon,

Mike
