Roark's Plans Fri Aug 14 th - Sat Aug 15 - Sun Aug 16

I see we have a bunch of plans for the coming weekend. So I thought I would through mine up.

Friday Aug 14th (Assuming I am not in Houston), I have a day off, and plan to ride. I beleive its Charlie's 83rd birthday, so if thats corrent, I will shoot out with John to join him for a celebratory ride.

Saturday Aug 15th I am going to ride from my house and do some of the Hills of Kirkwood. If its really hot I will depart at 7 am or if its cooler 8 am. If I am motivated the ride will loop back via the Chain of Rocks Bridge and Chambers Road for 65 miles. Otherwise I will cut it to about 50 miles.

Sunday Aug 16th I am open to either Trailnet if I can find a ride to the ride, or I will do my 50 miles to New Town and back ride.

Roark and all,

Hills of Kirkwood on Saturday sounds good to me. I'll ride to your house from mine, so let me know the start time from your house.

Sunday I'm kinda thinking of rding to the Edwardsville start for the Trailnet ride, and then riding home of course. (maybe only a 30% chance of this).

Or - I could go with the New Town idea. I'd ride to your house again, and then we could go to Saint Charles from there.

I'll add my 2 cents worth.
Friday I will do the 83 with Charlie.
Sunday I plan on doing the Trailnet ride. Mike you could ride from your house to the end of the Schoolhouse Trail in the MCT Trails and I will ride to there and meet you. Anyone else could drive and meet us at that point, or at Horseshoe Lake Park or at Culvers in Collinsville, or at my house or at Edwardsville at the start of the ride. Anyone interested in the above options let me know and we can arrange meeting times.
Saturday I don't know what I will do yet, my mother is visiting so I may just ride from home.

If I can get off work Friday I will do the Charlie ride....I have about a 50-50 chance right now.
I also plan on doing the Sunday Trailnet ride.

Greg,

Would you be able to give me some cue's for getting to the end of the Schoolhouse trail? I'd have to come over to Illinios by either the Eads bridge, or the Chain of Rocks - probably the chain of Rocks I'm guessing. What do I do after that?

Or would Culver's in Collinsville be more direct? All together it will be a 90 - 100 mile day for me, and I don't really want to pile on more miles than I have to.

I guess this means I'm leaning towards riding to the fun club start to do the ride with Greg, Ron and others.

Thanks for the help,

Mike

Mike,
Neither, you would take the McKinley bridge which has a bike lane. I have never done this, but I have looked it up on maps on the internet. After crossing the bridge it is 2 miles to the trail. I will post tonight and let you know how to get to the trail from the bridge.

Roark,

I plan to ride with you on Saturday. Let me know what time you are going to roll from your house.

Sunday I have a practice swim in Lake Saint Louis for the Lake Saint Louis Triathlon. I may take my bike along and attempt to find and ride the bike route when I am finished swimming.

Roark,

It looks like you have company for you Saturday hills of Kirkwood ride (Brian and me at least). What time do you want to roll from your house? The weather looks kind of in-between hot and not so hot. Would you be up for rolling at your house at 7:30? Let me know the time. I'm going to ride to your house from mine regardless.

Sunday I am going to ride to the Trailnet ride and meet Greg along the way. That will be a solid century for me - the second in as many weeks.
