Rides this weekend (August 8 and 9)

So who's riding this weekend? I'm starting to feel like it is Tom and me and no one else. :)

Saturday I'd like to ride the Dog Prairie Century. Anyone else? Greg? Ron? I think Tom is up for it too. If Tom and I don't hear from anyone else though, we might just do a longish ride from downtown instead. Maybe from downtown to Six flags and back. We could easily be talked into this option if others are more inclined to do this. We could roll from downtown and swing by Roarks. Then work our way to Mark's, or to Kaldi's in the valley. Then to Six Flags, and then start working our way home. Any takers? Sort of a modified version of the 100 miles of hills (which by the way I think we need to get on the calendar before the year is over).

Sunday I'm still hoping to do the Trailnet ride - the ride of the little hills in Saint Charles. Any takers on this? I'm likely to do that ride even if I don't hear from anyone on the blog. Just let me know so we can meet up.

Take care,

Mike

Mark and I are leaving from my house at 7 am. Due to this weekends premier of "Chalk" I have family commitments. I need to be back home by noon, or meet my clan at that time at some place to eat.

I dont know yet if on Sunday I will spin or take a short ride.

I have been training for the Olympic distance Lake Saint Louis triathlon which is August 22.

Also, Cheri and Amanda have been at camp and melina and I have been visiting on the weekends. Last weekend we stayed in STL and did 30 miles on the MCT trails.

I hope to be back to more regular biking soon!

Keep me posted.

Roark and all -

If Tom and I rolled to your house by 7:15, would you be up for a ride to / towards the valley / St. Albans?

I'm thinking this is where we are headed. Tom and I could roll your way (leaving our houses at 6:20) and be at your house pretty close to 7:00 - 7:15 - we'll push hard. We could then roll towards the valley or through the hills of Kirkwood, whatever you are up for. If I can get in 75 - 100 miles I'd be happy, even if I don't go to the Dog Prairie Century.

This sounds like a good plan to me all and all.

Sunday I think I am still considering the Trailnet ride in Saint Charles, although I could still be talked in to something else.

Let me know,

Mike

I have only planned to do the Dog Prairie Ride for a year. Monday I was told I have to go to my daughter's graduation and somehow that has priority over a century ride.
I have never done the St. Charles ride on Sunday, it never appealed to me riding the streets of St. Charles. Has anyone done this ride and know where the 61 miles go.

Mike and Tom,

Let's meet at Forest Park Visitor Center on Saturday morning around 8:00. Given how hot it is going to be this weekend I want to save my energy for Sunday.

I will ride out to St. Charles from my house on Sunday morning. We can meet up in St. Charles at around 8:30 Sunday morning.

Greg, it is a pretty good ride. It was two years ago that we did it. I recall that it is a nice ride. If you ride from Edwardsville you might make a hundred.

Mark and all,

So I'm down with the plan that Mark suggested. Saturday I'll be at the FP visitor's center at 8:00. We can then probably do some kind of Park / South City / Kirkwood kind of thing. Or whatever happens along the way.

Sunday I'll be at the trailnet ride at the start around 8:30. Might ride from my house - not sure. If I did I'd probably only do the 45 mile route in St Charles - we'll just see how it all turns out.

So Greg - I guess we'll both have to wait another year for the Dog Prairie.

Talk to you all soon,

Mike
