Saturday Jan 12th and Sunday Jan 13th Rides

Folks,

First, let me say a lot of you missed our first Wednesday night ride for 2008. The weather was good, and the Old Spaghetti Factory on Lacledes Landing wasn't bad either. More importantly John got to rub it in the faces of the Youth Hosteling Group that we rode and they drove.

Now lets turn to thoughts of this coming weekend.

Sunday (with Cheri's request in mind from Wednesday night ride) I plan to do some hills, starting from my house at say 10:00 am. This loop will get in the big climb on South Warson, Marshall, Adams, and my new favorite bonus climb Lindeman. We rest at Kirkwood Kaldis before looping to Grants Farm and Laurmier.

Saturday I will be up for some type of Coffee Laced City ride. A ride over to Crooked Tree in St. Charles would work as well.

Let me know your thoughts.

I'm up for both. Will the Saturday ride start at your house? I'll probably ride over if the start is no earlier than 9:00.

Sunday I'll probably ride to your house from mine as well.

Saturday morning I need to run Samantha to the allergist for her shot. So figure a 10:30 am start time from my house.

I am interested in going to yoga on Saturday. The class is 2 to 3:30. I may need to ride earlier myself or possibly skip the ride in order to attend the yoga class.

Brian, we will try to give you an easy breakaway point to get to Yoga on time. I have to be at Bnai Amoona at 4 pm myself. So I figure the ride needs to end by 3:00 pm the latest.

You better wear your heated shorts on Sunday - it looks to be pretty cool. I'm still going, but the wind chill looks to be in the mid to upper 20's.

Saturday looks great. I'll be at Roark's by 10:30, and be up for any kind of loop, so you don't have to swing to the city on my account unless you want to.

David T. may join us one or both days. He may not be able to be at my house at 9:30 on Saturday to ride over, so if we are off schedule we'll let you all know and we'll catch-up somewhere along the way. But I'm thinking it will work out to be all together at Roark's at 10:30.

I plan to ride Sunday. Thanks for accomodating my request! I hope the weather holds out and gets a bit warmer than what they're forecasting.

I thought the weekend of riding was great, especially today's brisk test of gear and will. If you think today was cold, the long range forecast for next Saturday says highs in the mid 20's and wind chill's in the upper teens. Anyone game? Dan and I were talking today about how low we can go - I wonder if next Saturday will be the real test. Next Sunday looks to be a little more promising with high's in the upper 30's. I'm wondering if Sunday will be a chance for the first century of the year? It may be the only way to make the century of the month club for 2008, unless you want to try for the weekend of the 26th.

One other note. So far this year I've riden rides of 42, 43, 44 (today), and 46 miles. I'm wondering if I can ride every distance of miles from 1 - 100 for the year? I guess I'm off to a descent start. Mark says you have to ride 3 miles for it to count, but I'm going to say that for the goal of every ride 1 - 100 miles, you have to make allowance for a 1 and a 2 mile ride. Get them all and you break 5,000 for the year.

Ya never know,

Mike

You all will have to ride without me next weekend. I will be in sunny Florida. I knew it was the fact that I missed the 1 & 2 mile rides that I didn't make 5000 miles this year.

On another note, if you really want to test your will, try today, the last three miles on a flat tire. The wind seems even stronger.
