Folks,
Lets get this blogger blogging again!
Regarding the Beer & Brat 5 Star Century Ride
I am putting together my thoughts for this Saturday's ride. I am not sure I want to ride in this heat 100 miles, but don't let that stop anyone else. I am willing to go along for the first 62 mile loop. Hopefully we can get an early start, say 7 am so at least for the first 62 miles we beat a bit of the heat. If the group prefers to ride another loop I am up for that as well.
Just let me know.

I am up for Saturday's ride. We'll see about the 2nd half after lunch. I have not done much riding since Michigan. I did ride 27 in Maine. Roark, and anyone else let's meet at the Ballas and Hwy 40 Metro Parking Lot at 6:00 AM Saturday morning. That will get us to the ride by 6:45 or so.
Mark...
I only have about 100 miles in since Michigan myself. At least 40 of those miles was done at or below 12 mph.
I think we're all talking about the AYH century (beer and brat I think).
I'm going to shoot for the 100 miles. I don't plan on burning up the track. Maybe a bit on the first 62 miles, and then a bit easier on the last 40 or so.
I'll be in for the full 100 baring any difficulties.
I'll be looking for a recovery ride of about 30 -40 miles on Sunday as well. That may be my last ride before Paris.
I'll be driving to Milstadt from my house, and I'll shoot for a 6:30 - 6:40 arrival and rolling by 7:00. And I do mean ROLLING - as in on the bike with both feet clipped in and moving forward - by 7:00. I agree the heat is going to be rough. Early July Greg and I did a century in bad heat and we had the first 50 miles done by 10:15 and the whole century and lunch done by 1:30.
See you all there,
Mike
At 12 mph we'll be finished with the ride early. You had a hard time keeping up with Joe? Bill and I rode a 27 mile loop that had some good climbs on it. I rode his Klein with durace gears. It was different.
I have about 150 in since Michigan, and another 3 hours or so on the trainer.
100 of my outdoor miles were in Mississippi which were all hot as hell, flat and windy. All good training for this weekend, but all probably not good for conditions on PBP. Oh well!
Mike
Mark...
Joseph has youth going for him. I got strategy. So are you buying a Klein?
Mike....
Beer & Brat was clearly indicated in the initial blogger post. You should re-read from the source to verify.
I don't think my F%$#*@g reading is the problem.
OOPs - maybe I should edit that?
:)
Mike....you seem to be having problems with your finger positionning.
The only hot & humid miles I have is 9 miles on Tuesday night at 8 mph.
Mark posted this to the wrong thread...
No, it was a spare Bill has. It is probably about 7 years old.
Count me in for the century since they claim they have rerouted the ride to have better roads than last year. Also I am too cheap to pay $30 and not do the maximum distance.
Sorry, haven't checked the blog in a while (or my email). Two weeks in Israel, and then the last week or so catching up on work and re-acclimating to life in the States.
I'm in for the beer and brat ride Saturday.
I'll let you know when I've got my Israel pics done for you to view.

Since I had the last of my cataract surgery Monday...the doctor says not to ride hard for at lest a week, I better pass.
Stay Cool!!!
Ron
Ron, how are doing? We missed you in Michigan. Had a great time. We'll see you soon. Mark
