John and I plan to ride somewhere from my house leaving at 10 am.  This will be my last ride before returning once again for a week to the holy land.

Weekend Rides Nov 20-21

I am planning rides for this pre-thanksgiving weekend.  I saw Dan B has planned a Kaldis, but has not said if its Saturday or Sunday.  So I will take the liberty of saying my house this Saturday for a 40-50 mile City Ride.  Lunch will be at the Black Bear Bakery on Cherokee just like last year if anyone shows.  If you are interested in the ride or lunch at the Black Bear let me know.

As for Sunday I am saying its from Kaldis as Dan B broadcast eariler.

My Son's Latest Film

This just in from my son Joseph attending the USC film school in California.

As most of you know, this summer I directed my third feature film, THE PASCAL SIGN, which will premiere December 23rd at 7:00PM at the Tivoli Theater. THE PASCAL SIGN tells the story of five people during the final days of their lives, and traces the various moral, spiritual, and romantic obstacles they face knowing their existences will soon come to an end. Saturday Ride Nov 6th

The riding season is winding into winter.  So before the snow flies lets get a few more rides in!
Saturday I plan to ride from my house at 10:00 am.  Figure 40-45 miles with a stop for coffee.

Sunday Rides 10/31

Folks,

Ok its been forever since I have posted to organize a ride.  Just call me bad, or a world traveler.  Luckily at least for this weekend, I am free to ride on this Sunday ( Saturday is out for me ).

I am way out of shape after little riding in the last month, so its going to be 40-50 miles of some City riding.  If you want to join me, plan to be at my house at 9:00 am.

Tour of Shawnee Forest October 22 - 23

Since I am not sure who may be getting what e-mails I figured this might be the easiest way to reach the gang. As things stand right now for Tour of Shawnee Forest Dan Bauer and his wife are going, I am going, Rick Ochs is going, Mike Brady is going, Greg Hobson and his wife are going. Ron Bookout is not going and will be in Mesa. (Muilenburg is planning a bike ride in Mesa sometime soon. I do not know the date.) Roark and Maxine are a maybe.

Mike has a room reserved at the Day's Inn and I have a double room reserved at the Day's Inn. Rick we can share the double room. Mike and Rick, we can take my car. I have a rack that will carry 3 bikes quite well. I was thinking we could meet at Mike's house and try to be on the road by 5:00 - 5:15 Friday night. We can get on Hwy 55 easily from Mike's house. Let me know what you think about this idea. (If we need to cancel the hotel rooms need to be canceled on Tuesday October 19th. Let make sure we are all committed to go by Tuesday.)

Riding this Weekend October 16 - 17

I am not sure about riding on Saturday. May stay around the house to get some things done before the weather turns real bad.

I will be riding Sunday. A Couple of options: one ride into the city and meet at the visitors station at Forest Park around 9:30.

Or meet at my house around 9:00 and ride west county out to St. Albans and surrounding areas.

Ride Oct 30, or 31 or Oct 9th?

Hello all,

Does anyone know of any organized rides in the greater Saint Louis area - or maybe even within 200 miles of STL - that are going out October 30 or 31? I'm looking for a one or two day ride that is about 50 -100 miles each day. Just trying to keep the training / fitness going.

Also - I know the ride the rivers century is Oct 10. Is anyone riding October 9? I'd be interested in something on the 25 - 50 mile range.

When is that late season ride in the Saint Louis area that goes over to that church in Illinois that serves spaghetti for lunch? I know that is a little vague - but I seem to remember an annual ride that goes over there each year for a spaghetti fundraiser of some kind.

Ride the Rivers Century October 10th

Who is planning to do this ride? I will be doing the ride and will most likely drive out to St. Charles to start - that may be dependent on who joins us for the ride. There is a senior from Clayton HS who may join us. We pick him up at the rest stop at Forest Park. More info on that later. Early registration closes on September 30th.

It looks like Dan Bauer and I will ride from my house heading east toward Forest Park. We will leave my house around 8:00 and arrive at the visitors center at FP around 9:00. We'll loop through downtown and through Lafayette Square for a coffee break and then head west. Anyone can join us along the route.

Southern Illinios Ride, October 23rd

Can one of you post some info on the ride you are looking at for October 23rd? I know you have sent some e-mails, but I'm not sure if the info is here on the blog or if I am just missing it.

I've been looking at my work schedule, and I will be able to join the ride and I am looking forward to it. Lynda is a maybe as well.

And a good time was had by all....

So..... I hope Roark can post the picture of the crazy dude riding the Wiskey Barrell on the Old Kentucky Home Tour last weekend. Pretty nuts.

Roark, Lynda and I all had a great time on the OKHT ride. It's a good ride for the gang too if we want to look into it next year. Or, another possibility is to ride in that area on a different weekend too. Now that Roark, Lynda and I have checked out the area I'm sure we can put together a weekend of riding in the area even on other dates. It's a great area. Road conditions were as good or better than Horsey Hundred (think smooth black top), but I'd say the roads are a bit more challenging than the Horsey, but not so tough it would kick our butts. A good challenging ride that wont kill you, with not much traffic and smooth roads. And things to do in the evenings too.

Roark and I managed 126 miles over the two days (about 7000 feet of climbing). Lynda came in at about 95 miles for the two days and I am guessing she covered about 4500+ feet of climbing - her best two day total ever. Way to go!

More info next year and down the line.

Anyone up for a ride in St. Louis County? Meet at Kaldi's in Kirkwood at 9:00am on Saturday and we can ride the hills of Kirkwood or take Grant's Trail in to the city and/or other variations.

Tour de Wildwood Sunday, August 29th

If you are planning on doing the Tour de Wildwood on Sunday, we can start from my house. The plan will be to leave my house at 8:15 and ride to the Lafayette High School. If you want to start from my house, I will have bagels and coffee before the ride. You can arrive at my house between 7:30 - 8:10. If you are coming to my house let me know so I will have enough bagels and coffee.

Rides this week (8-24 to 8-29) and weekend

Hello all,

I'm looking to see if anyone has any rides planned for this week during the week? I can't ride the Wednesday night fun club ride, so that is out for me.

Also, my work week is hectic, so don't go out of your way to plan for me.

I might see if I can join the North County ride that Paul Kitka, Ron Bookout and all do. Anything else happening Tuesday evening?

Wednesday AM I have a maybe for the morning. Don't John J and Bill P do a ride Wednesday mornings? Also, what about Dr. Dan? Is there still a ride he does each Wednesday AM?

Thursday evening is a maybe for me too.

Saturday (8-28) I'm not sure how my day will turn out. Part of the day will be Amanda's Bat Mitzvah.

Sunday (8-29) I am looking for something in the 40-50 mile range. Maybe a ride that can be part medium hard (maybe to Roark's or to the Kirkwoood hills area), and then on the way home through Forest Park and such. I'm hoping the second half of my Sunday ride can be a pretty easy pace and maybe meet Lynda for the last 25 miles of the day. We could also see about the whole day being maybe on the medium / easier side and maybe going to coffee at some place like Mississippi Mud or similar.
